NANDO’S: A PLACE where hot sauce flows freely, where no one will judge you for eating with your fingers, where you can always find the juiciest of juicy chicken.

But did you ever consider the possibility that one day, there might not BE any chicken?

Unfortunately, ITV News reports that this was the reality for customers at the Leicester branch of Nando’s on Wednesday night.

After experiencing what it called an “incredibly busy” weekend, the restaurant had to inform hungry customers that there was simply no chicken left. None.

To say they were disappointed was an understatement.

Yeah. Talk to us about that.

“Inconsolable.” Damn right they were.

Nando’s are putting the chicken drought down to the recent scrapping of paper loyalty cards, telling ITV News:

Our Leicester Granby Street restaurant experienced an incredibly busy weekend. Many customers were rushing to use their final remaining chillies in their old paper loyalty rewards cards, and we also launched Online Takeaway. We would like to apologise to those customers who couldn’t get their preferred Peri-Peri meal.

A chilling glimpse into a situation best avoided. Customers of Nando’s Leicester, we stand in solidarity with you.
